Default Does your chat window get messed up sometimes?

Every once in a while my chat window starts acting real strange

All the posts that come into it appear at the top of the chat window screen. So I can't read them. So I scroll up to read them and then no new messages come into the screen. I have to scroll down to read the later messages.

This only happens when local is on. Guild chat or alliance works ok. Put local back on and all the messages go straight back up to the top.

Does anyone else get this? Any way to solve it?

Yeah I've gotten it a few times. I usually just log out and back in to fix it.

I also have this problem sometimes...
It usualy appears after i rezone to a busy district, but sometimes it appears out of nothing...
with those "white rules" you don't have much space left to read those messages

Solution: restart Guild Wars

It's strange, the pushing up of text appears to only occur when the chat window is "maximised", ie with it's background and check boxes displayed. If you revert it to it's semi-hidden state, the text returns to the correct location.

Dunno what causes it exactely, but I agree it seems to only happen in local chat and it happens over time. You'll see it creeping up a line or two at a time.

I think it happens when someone said a sentence that fits exactly into one of the chat-box lines. No new line, only one line that has exactly the length of your chat box. Depends on the size of your box, though.

But I'm not sure, thats just what I noticed...

That what I do which causes it to happen. But it does happen randomally. Its annoying and a long outstanding bug. Not sure if and when A.net will ever fix it.

Yes, sometimes I have white lines that slowly move up. It's mainly in busy districts. Sometimes it disappears after zoning a few times. Sometimes it gets worse.

I also have seen this quite a lot. Most of the time the trade channel is the one causing it and sometimes the local. It can only really be fixed by re-logging: really annoying.

I have the feeling it also disappears sometimes in really busy districts after a while, maybe when the lines corrupting your chat disappear from the log?

I've been playing for 18 months and it's been there since the beginning. Less lately though.

It get's worse when you scroll up and back down... Typically this happens to me when I am trying to sell or buy something... It drives me nuts! Usually I just give up and turn off local - trade chat is still scrolled up but not as much as local would have it. It either rights itself after a few zones or a quick log out does the trick. I've been hoping that one day someone would fix it, as its not at the top of the OMG FIX IT NOW list I haven't said much - but it would be nice if it was eventually fixed.

Oh, Okay.... Good it's just not me.

Bad... it happens quite a bit to a lot of people.

Yeah, I find that logging out fixes the problem, but often when I get this problem then I get the dreaded fixing GW archive screen. And that takes about 10 min or so.

OHHHHhhh. In a perfect world.........

It's the worst bug ever!

The only way to fix it is to keep local off. It's filled with crap anyway, noobs calling others noob or nub (which is really stupid, who came up with that anyway?).

It happens sometimes in trade districts, either due to use of some weird characters, or some other bug which occurs simply because there's so much spam.

The reason why it doesn't disapear after zoning, is because all text, even the one hidden, is processed in chat window. So hiding trade chat doesn't remove the offending text, and causes the bug.

Redundant empty lines will disapear once the text/line/character(?) has been pushed out of chat history. So, simply put, when those 100, 200(?) lines have been typed after the line causing the bug.

Relogging solves the problem, since it flushes chat history.

Actually I've had it happen to either local or trade. Where if I click one or the other off then it looks fine....
